The following two infographics highlight quarterly movements in the economy and investment markets across Australia and New Zealand.
Over the Quarter:
- Australia’s and New Zealand’s unemployment rates increased over the March quarter.
- The AUD and NZD were stable.
- The NZX50 underperformed, while the ASX200 outperformed the S&P500 for the quarter. Volatility has increased modestly compared to December 2024.
- Gold has increased dramatically for the quarter, while oil increased by 5.6%. Iron Ore fell while Milk increased.
- Annual inflation remained relatively static in the US; Australia fell dramatically, and New Zealand, to a slightly lesser degree.
- Yields for the US, Australia, and New Zealand 10-year bonds all increased. US 10Y/2Y spreads were relatively static.
