  • Applicability: The technique could be widely used and help economies.
  • Novelty: It is still in its infancy and has not yet gained widespread usage.
  • Depth: The technology is being developed and invested in by multiple nations.

Technologies were chosen according to this criterion as well as their potential to significantly alter society in the ensuing three to five years.
